Our Son's First Race

It's the newest craze these days. Our 13yo Kyle just got bitten by the running bug. He joined the 2010 St. Ignatius Run together with his friends last July 31.

I was apprehensive when he first told me he signed up for the 10k race. 10k??? That would be too much for him, I thought. The recent news about a number of unfortunate incidents during the Milo Marathon and the Energizer Night Run, made me feel even more anxious.

Only after his Pa assured me that he would be there did I finally say yes.

Kyle was a bit disappointed when the organizers relegated them to the 3k race instead of their 10k preference. That was wise of the organizers and something I secretly welcomed. Hehehe.

Long story short, Kyle ran his first 3k race and finished in 21 minutes. Not bad! Woot!

    correct! he runs around his school track oval daily when the weather permits :)

School and a Mixed Bag of Emotions

Even with the (remaining) 9 year old son at home, doing his usual stuff alternately watching tv, tinkering with his Legos, cutting/ folding/ creating things with paper and playing with the iPad, and making a ruckus all by his lonesome, the house is, weirdly, quiet. I often find myself introspecting... about the nest almost empty now and other similar thoughts. And I struggle to stop myself from wallowing in a mixed bag of emotions. It's not a bad thing, except, I could waste hours doing that. I thought I was totally in control and could dismiss the situation as another milestone, like seeing your child lose his first baby tooth. Nothing a warm hug or an ice cream could not fix. by Linnor When the boys are home, their room doesn't stay as orderly as the pic above.  Mistulang binagyo kapag silang lahat ay nasa loob ng kanilang asul na kwarto. :) Merong nag-gigitara, merong nagko-kompyuter at merong naglalaro ng Lego.  Sa madaling sabi, pag nasa silid sila, talagang di maiiwasan ang pagiging makalat nito.  :P Anyway, at least nasa bahay lang sila at hindi nagbabarkada sa labas. Pero sa totoo lang, after a long day at work or from school, it's always nice to come home to a clean house.  Ang sarap magpahinga sa maayos na kabahayan pagkatapos ng mahabang araw  di ba?
