032919 Today, Facebook said we’ve been friends for 9 years. Going back to 9 years ago, I probably created his FB account when he was 6 years old and added myself as his friend too. LOL. Most teens his age are all about social media, selfies and what-nots. This 15-year old son of ours is not even active on FB or IG. In fact, majority of his photos are mostly from tags by this oversharing parent. #forumsession#forumtraveller#fsmarching29friyay#pintoartmuseum#flashbackfriday#fbf https://ift.tt/2JPaN0i via Tumblr https://ift.tt/2Fvp1ha

032819 I’ll let you in on a little secret. When we got married 27 years ago, the photographer requested me to remove my bridal shoes so he would appear taller in pictures. I’m not sure if he remembers. https://ift.tt/2U07tE6 via Tumblr https://ift.tt/2TL62Vi

032419 This charming terrace overlooks the pool, cabanas and lush garden of pink bougainvilleas. The sitting area was exactly where I imagined to have our family photos taken during Ma’s 80th birthday last September. Sadly, we had to cancel our room reservation weeks before the occasion. The hotel emailed us that their pool was boarded up and was being renovated. Months later, we’ve been back here a few times for lunch. The place still looks quaint and postcard-pretty. It would be nice to revisit old plans… https://ift.tt/2FuRfbU via Tumblr https://ift.tt/2utikHi

Our little tribe 15 years ago… This particular shot was by my brother @junniearreza. It was taken in Cafe Adriatico Cebu, now long gone, and days before or after our youngest son’s christening. He was 2 months old here. Poring over my online photographs is my best-loved hobby, my catharsis. Thanks to Flickr, I have 70,000 photos or about 209 GB worth of used space. And I’m still adding. https://ift.tt/2FlyJ5P via Tumblr https://ift.tt/2HyGsAY

032119 Soar high, Kyle! He may be the most timid among our three sons, but he is definitely the most creative. He draws, paints and plays the guitar. He is more comfortable with analyzing numbers than reading prose. That he can easily wiggle himself out of any situation puzzles me, given that he is a man of few (Tagalog) words. Hehe. Our middle son Kyle just got regularized at his first job in Manila. And in a few days, he is bound for Singapore to attend training courses together with his workmates. I couldn’t be more proud... and grateful. https://ift.tt/2WcnbZx via Tumblr https://ift.tt/2HRARW3

LACMA

Sharing an unedited behind-the-scene clip from two years ago... It was a breezy noon, but the sweltering heat from the sun was quite unbearable. We only took a few seconds of footage, to the relief of my companions I guess. I love that the sons (behind the cam) and the hubby all accede to my vain bidding. Pagbigyan na. Ang arte kasi ng kasama nila. LOL. Not all will feel the same way, but I get that satisfaction each time I put together a nice printed photobook or a travel video I could watch repeatedly. 031819 Us right before lunch… Youngest son is now on summer break so it’s going to be happy chaos around the house from here on. His assigned chore is to sweep the floors daily, and be my gopher for other errands. As added activity, his Pa and I gave him the go to attend soccer practice too. Hehe… anything to wean him from gadgets… https://ift.tt/2Cs5vl0 via Tumblr https://ift.tt/2W72hef

031819 “They are the beat of my heart, the pulse in my veins, and the energy of my soul”. They are my sons. This was in 2016 at Fushimi Inari, in Kyoto. Incredible how much they’ve matured in three years. Today, one could hardly tell who is the eldest, the middle and the youngest if one meets them for the first time. https://ift.tt/2TKRyti via Tumblr https://ift.tt/2CmKyYQ

Good health and more travels

031519 Good health and more travels. The sky lanterns at Shifen Old Street are of particular note. Once used as a signaling system for those living and working in the railroad industry, visitors today paint their wishes with calligraphy before releasing the lanterns into the sky. We think Shifen Old Street is one of the best stops on the Pingxi Line, but if you have time, jump back on the train to visit some of the other stations, offering gentle mountainside strolls, sky lanterns and an up-close look at the early days of train travel and coal mining in Taiwan. Releasing a sky lantern costs TWD100~150 each. - rtaiwanr.com. via IFTTT ,

031419 Five hundred years before the Philippines was discovered, a Roman Catholic church was built in Budapest. It is not the oldest in Christendom, but it is historically significant as this was the site of several royal coronations and weddings since the middle ages. The Mongols destroyed it. The Turks occupied it. And the 2nd World War badly damaged it. To actually see it standing to this day after an extensive restoration, is actually mind-blowing. Wikipedia states: Matthias Church is a Roman Catholic church located in Budapest, Hungary, in front of the Fisherman's Bastion at the heart of Buda's Castle District. According to church tradition, it was originally built in Romanesque style in 1015, although no archaeological remains exist. https://ift.tt/2O4NIF4 via Tumblr https://ift.tt/2u3OCc1

Les Buissonnets. The house of the family of saints. The Martin family: St. Therese, and her parents St. Louis and St. Zelie lived here. When we planned this trip, Lisieux was a far stretch, because of the limited free days we had outside of the bus tours we booked. However, the Filipino tour operator’s offer was hard to refuse. I thought “Dear me, this is not part of our budget”. I was back and forth. “Perhaps we could squeeze this and juggle items here and there”. LOL. Shortly, Jerry and I said we’ll do it. After all, with the second son about to land his first job, when do we (all 5 of us) get the chance to travel this way again together, right? That’s me trying to justify. Added to our original itinerary were: Giverny, Mont Saint-Michel and Lisieux. So off we went very eager to see places for the first time. https://ift.tt/2NWKQdB via Tumblr https://ift.tt/2HtO1bx

030819 During dinner in one of the restos at Stephansplatz, a kindly couple from our tour group gave us a box of pizza. They said they ordered too much. We accepted and said our thanks, because to decline would have been rude. Having spent a hefty price for lunch earlier that day, we were ready to settle for a light dinner of salad, pasta or burgers. The boys obviously just went along with the plans of their peso-pinching folks. No complaints. So imagine the intense delight elicited by that extra box of pizza. The wide-eyed look and grin I saw the sons made meant they still had room for more. #flashbackfriday #fbf #travelsnippets https://ift.tt/2Txhesv via Tumblr https://ift.tt/2VR9rmV

030819 One could easily spot my 2 elder sons in this photo from last year. LOL. I sometimes kid them they are generously blessed but they can’t have everything. Height in this case. Hihi. Hubby and I together with the youngest son were sitting from across when I took the shot. We were having some ice cream while enjoying the view from this iconic French boulevard... pebble beach, blue sea, palm trees along the French Riviera. This was a once in a lifetime thing and we are truly grateful we were able to do this as a family. This was at Promenade des Anglais in Nice, France. Sadly, this was also the scene of an attack during Bastille Day in 2016. Not really too long ago for #flashbackfriday #fbf. https://ift.tt/2VKLLQV via Tumblr https://ift.tt/2NNbN3c

030719 In the off-chance we get to travel together, we prefer the season of spring when temperatures are warming up, days are longer and there are fewer tourists. This was last May in 2018 when the sons waited for me and thought I was in one of the boutiques on Rue Saint-Honoré. #spring #travel #europe https://ift.tt/2IW7h3G via Tumblr https://ift.tt/2H4RvSs
