One good thing about 2020 was having all of our three sons at home in Cebu. Son no. 2 boarded one of the last flights from Manila before the whole nation went into lockdown last March. For the past ten months, we shared most meals, prayed our nightly rosary, binge-watched on Netflix, heard streaming Sunday masses, took road trips, or just hung out together... In a few days, the son is flying back to Manila for work. And I'm beside myself with all sorts of emotions at this change. *Sigh* via Instagram https://instagr.am/p/CKL4WgtgGHy/

I liken this quote to how my parents would stubbornly choose to do things their way, at their ages (79 and 82), despite our offer to care and make things easier for them. 🤷🏻‍♀️ via Instagram https://instagr.am/p/CJ7ROyCAymv/

Maayo Argao

Image
2021-01-02 Our wanderlust took us to Argao, about 3 hours away in the south of Cebu City... This road trip was a result of an impulsive decision to push through despite the heavy rain forecast from our weather app.  We were immensely glad we drove out to see the place for the first time, because it turned out to be a really nice day, though very windy.  It took us 3 hours each way on good roads passing through picturesque coastal towns,  so it didn't feel long.  Plus, upbeat music, vegan chicharon and Chowking chao fan with beef siomai lunch kept us occupied. 😁 Maayo is a small seaside hotel without a beach (just a pool and a restaurant), but the way it was structured and laid out gives you a lovely vista of the sea.  Whatever it lacked in amenities was compensated by the view, fresh air and lovely nooks and crannies for those perfect Instagram or FB shots.

Wishing all a better 2021... "Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert." Is. 43:18-19
