Threw Our Cares To The Wind
(A late post, this was a few days before the 7.2 magnitude earthquake that greatly devastated Bohol and affected Cebu and other parts of Visayas and Mindanao.)
Last weekend was reserved for reviewing Jake for his 2nd quarterly tests due to start last Monday. Saturday was spent on Chinese and Social Studies. Sunday was for Filipino.
After dinner last Saturday, hubby and I met with a good friend of mine who was in town for work. We brought them to Canvas for wine, tapas and sweets. And then J said they had an extra room at the resort they were staying at. She thought we might be interested to take it.
It was a Saturday night, to sleep at Movenpick Resort and Spa in Mactan Island and to wake up the following day by the beach were truly enticing propositions. It would be our first time to sleep in that resort too. No brainer. We gladly took her offer. And before midnight after our drinks, we headed home to pick up our beach essentials, to wake Jake up, and to pack his Filipino reviewer. Haha. I love this spur of the moment thing when we can just pack and go.
We all got to the resort a little past midnight. The room was spacious and looked comfy for the three of us. However, the subdued lighting didn't show clearly how our free room looked. Waking up the following day after a restful sleep, the natural daylight cast a bright glow to our room. It looked very nice with a modern appeal and appeared even more spacious.
Jake woke up to a cheery bedroom...

the weather was perfect too
Breakfast didn't come with the room but that was okay. It was a chance for us to drive out and try the nearby Mactan Newtown.
here for breakfast
Before we left Mactan Newtown, we bought our packed lunch from McDonald's to save us from ordering from the resort and from paying an arm and a leg. "Tipid" (frugal) tip.
The moment we got back to the hotel room, hubby and I savored the rest of the morning doing a few yoga asanas, or just being lazy in bed, while our grader started answering his reviewer. Jake was more than willing to get on with it because a swim on the beach after his review was motivation enough.
Except for the Filipino review, everything about our Sunday was spontaneous. I realized unplanned days such as this one could also turn out to be perfect.

What a wonderful weekend you had! The quake was really tragic! :( I am praying for healing for those who have been affected.
ReplyDeleteI love unplanned get together like this. You stayed at Movenpick in the same weekend when cousins stayed there . :D
ReplyDeleteWow! That was a great weekend, unplanned and spontaneous. Not to mention free (well, some aspect is free hehe). And the room looks really great!
