“Another task I hated was washing clothes.

One time I had to go to the spring with a batya (a big tin basin) full of dirty clothes. When I arrived, there were a lot of young maidens who had already occupied most of the rocks where laundering can be done, and there was no way I could accomplish my chore. This worried me, because I had to go back to the house before noon as I still had to cook the noonday meal.

I then stood in the middle of the water and stripped naked. When the girls saw me, they screamed and ran away hurling invectives as they hid behind the bushes.

Their flight gave me a chance to choose the best place where I could do my job until I was finished.”

Jake read aloud from the memoirs of his great grandfather, my maternal Lolo Peping Sering, before I let him enjoy his gaming on his laptop. This was one of the things I requested him to do during the quarantine period.

School and a Mixed Bag of Emotions

"You can’t imagine your life with kids, until you have them, then you can’t imagine your life without them." ~Author Unknown It's been a week since two of our three sons flew to Manila to attend their classes. Even with the (remaining) 9 year old son at home, doing his usual stuff alternately watching tv, tinkering with his Legos, cutting/ folding/ creating things with paper and playing with the iPad, and making a ruckus all by his lonesome, the house is, weirdly, quiet. I often find myself introspecting... about the nest almost empty now and other similar thoughts. And I struggle to stop myself from wallowing in a mixed bag of emotions. It's not a bad thing, except, I could waste hours doing that. I thought I was totally in control and could dismiss the situation as another milestone, like seeing your child lose his first baby tooth. Nothing a warm hug or an ice cream could not fix. by Linnor When the boys are home, their room doesn't stay as orderly as the pic above.  Mistulang binagyo kapag silang lahat ay nasa loob ng kanilang asul na kwarto. :) Merong nag-gigitara, merong nagko-kompyuter at merong naglalaro ng Lego.  Sa madaling sabi, pag nasa silid sila, talagang di maiiwasan ang pagiging makalat nito.  :P Anyway, at least nasa bahay lang sila at hindi nagbabarkada sa labas. Pero sa totoo lang, after a long day at work or from school, it's always nice to come home to a clean house.  Ang sarap magpahinga sa maayos na kabahayan pagkatapos ng mahabang araw  di ba?
