Pepakura - Weekend Projects

Cutting the parts to their exact sizes was therapeutic, I discovered. It's my favorite part in doing these "pepakura" projects because my fingers were quite big to make the paper heads or the hands perfect.

After finishing 4 characters, we all became more adept. Each succeeding project took a shorter time to make and each piece looked better than the last.

So imagine hubby and 13 yo Kyle cutting the paper pieces and me taping and pasting the parts together. That's pretty much how our weekend at home was spent. Geeky but cool!

    hi linnor,

    to help out with the small parts and hard to reach areas, you could use tweezers (the flat ones) to hold them together while the glue dries. :D

School and a Mixed Bag of Emotions

Even with the (remaining) 9 year old son at home, doing his usual stuff alternately watching tv, tinkering with his Legos, cutting/ folding/ creating things with paper and playing with the iPad, and making a ruckus all by his lonesome, the house is, weirdly, quiet. I often find myself introspecting... about the nest almost empty now and other similar thoughts. And I struggle to stop myself from wallowing in a mixed bag of emotions. It's not a bad thing, except, I could waste hours doing that. I thought I was totally in control and could dismiss the situation as another milestone, like seeing your child lose his first baby tooth. Nothing a warm hug or an ice cream could not fix. by Linnor When the boys are home, their room doesn't stay as orderly as the pic above.  Mistulang binagyo kapag silang lahat ay nasa loob ng kanilang asul na kwarto. :) Merong nag-gigitara, merong nagko-kompyuter at merong naglalaro ng Lego.  Sa madaling sabi, pag nasa silid sila, talagang di maiiwasan ang pagiging makalat nito.  :P Anyway, at least nasa bahay lang sila at hindi nagbabarkada sa labas. Pero sa totoo lang, after a long day at work or from school, it's always nice to come home to a clean house.  Ang sarap magpahinga sa maayos na kabahayan pagkatapos ng mahabang araw  di ba?
